We didn't make our original destination, we had a late start and then I really wanted everyone to see scenic Cudillerio so I added a few kilometers to the day with that decision. It's just so pretty I felt like we had to see it.
I threw bread to this guy and a white seagull came up behind him and literally grabbed his tail feathers and pulled him back from the bread. Of course I made sure he got bread...
We didn't know where we would end up but we arrived to a town where we heard a hotel had reserved rooms for pilgrims and I think I have never been so happy to get to a destination. I fell really badly today, the mud is really bad and my left leg bent totally under me. Poor Jordi was behind me and I think he thought it might be a Camino breaker. He and the boys got me up pretty quickly and within minutes I knew I was totally fine but wasn't convinced as I laid there on the ground.
Tristan's feet were killing him. We've had a lot of highway walking and I knew we couldn't go any further. We ended up at Pension Prada and the owners were so simple and sweet. They let me purchase two rooms and put three in each. Jordi got his own room and added Reichen to his room and the owner didn't care and only charged Jordi for half of a room. She invited us to her restaurant where she welcomed us to make our sandwiches there and enjoy them at her tables. We slept so well!
The rain is killing us but it is off and on all day and we all agree that's better than what the forecast said, it appeared we'd have rain and only rain for seven days straight.
I have forewarned the kids that we might be slowing Jordi down and we need to be prepared for the time when he chooses to go ahead, that is the Camino! Everyone needs to walk their own walk. They understand that but are pretty attached to him between
the constant rain, colder weather and shorter days, I feel like we have lost some of our groove with how many kilometers we can kick out. That's is totally OK for we have the time , we clearly will make it to Santiago and the coast. The shorter
days effect us if we start later and arrive later.
Tonight I'd have my first bath since being home. I'm a bath addict, I love my hot baths so this was very welcomed. Not certain why the water was slightly blue, I think a sign could have warned me I was bathing in toxic waste and I would have still
taken the bath!
Glad to be in this small hotel with such amazing sweet owners on this rainy cold night.
We are really happy and with great company!
Pictures from the day...
Just like yesterday our umbrellas never left our hands. Had we left the auberge any earlier it was pouring...
Dog on the blog...
Sadly a real junk yard dog guarding junk...
