Heading to a town I love today with splendid views!
The middle of the walk has some safe road walking but the bookends of the walk are overlooking the water.
We arrived and went to my spot where I collected sea glass three years ago, we got more to add to my collection. We are staying in a simple auberge, owned by the town and with kitchen access. A stop at the grocery store and the kids were making a feast.
We have two other pilgrims here tonight and two men claiming to have been walking for seven years. One dressed in what I would call a pilgrim costume. My antennas were up on these characters from the second I saw them this comes days later so since
I have heard from excellent sources that I was correct. They smoked every second I saw them but asked me for money in the morning to feed their three dogs. I would find out they stayed here last night too, and that money in the donation box
was missing. I came around the corner to where the donation box was and watched them literally dividing coins. Of course heading in the opposite direction so no one can detect their inconsistency.
My feelings would be confirmed a few nights later from one of the Norte's favorite auberges when I was told calls are coming in about these two men. I hesitate to post this but I realize that it is good knowledge to share with others who might want to
pilgrimage. I of course have a picture of these guys but choose to not share it.
I loved this town almost three years ago when I came in, it's my sea glass town where I get my loot from, we collected some pretty pieces.
These guys were up bright and early!
Then we'd see them minutes later in the water...
Today's walk had some amazing views, it had about 90 minutes of severe road walk but the morning stretch well made up for it.
Karsh can find a natural needle in any haystack, I think this is the third praying mantis eggs that he has showed me on this trip ...
For those that don't know you follow shell designs or yellow arrows to Santiago. Two and a half years ago I heard a rumor that Shell gas stations had a stamp for our pilgrim passports, my friend Danial and I got one ( even though some guy on my Camino
forum seemed to think that impossible posting links that there are no Shell gas stations in Spain). Well here we passed ( another) Shell gas station ( in Spain) and took the few extra feet to get the stamp but they didn't have one:(
For those in the States don't let those prices excite you they are for liters and not gallons!
So I'm going to come clean here, my kids do the cooking and making of lunches on this trip. This is nothing I have asked of them they just have taken it on. I think food is so much more appreciated out here. At lunch you can hear," I'm making mom's sandwich"
, here is a picture of dinner being made. Some auberges have kitchens and we hit the grocery store with huge smiles and an enthusiasm that if witnessed would make you convinced we are crazier than crazy!

and an escalator or two in town, almost like cheating on the Camino if you ask me.... this saved us some uphill steps:) we joke we are pilgrim purist!
