RV 2019: Car to Porto

Again we find ourselves back among friends and another home away from home.

This time there was no room at the inn unless we wanted to sleep in a spare living area...

An English rugby team has rented the whole hostel for the weekend for a regional tournament. They were such a joy to be around, a rowdy, drunk bunch with great manners!!! 

We were going to go watch them play but it started to rain so we stayed put...

 We spent lunch in a covered patio where this band played.

RV 2019: Car to Coimbra to Braga

We stayed another night in Coimbra before taking off up North to Braga.

Coimbra’s University is very special, from the cloaks the students wear to the bats in their library! A tour of the school is a must!

RV 2019: Car to Coimbra

It’s so great getting to show Steve all of my favorite places in Portugal. Several months ago we secured my favorite room in Coimbra! We quickly made it over to reserve one of the handful of tables available at my favorite Fado stop. It had a different singer than last year but was just as awesome! It feels good to be back in Coimbra!!!

RV 2019: Portugal by Car

With the RV behind us, we woke up early to catch a bus back to Lisbon to get our rental car. 

This was at the local market near we caught the bus.

There is some enormous freedom to having a car at our disposal!

RV 2019: Day 10: Two Stages… the End!

We didn’t know today would be our last day hiking . We arrived to Milafontes, had a great lunch and decided to keep on hiking.

We entertained the idea of camping out tonight arriving to town early catching a bus back to Lisbon to get our car.  But we kept walking and we were exhausted!!!! 

The sun going down while taking our last steps on the beach gave a great conclusion to a wonderful hike.

 

We stayed at the campground in Porto Covo in a bungalow that was fantastic!!  

Tomorrow starts a new journey on this trip as we rent a car and hit all of my favorite Portugal spots... somewhere we hope to place our RV!

RV 2019: Day 9

Thankfully the sun came out!

We had a marvelous days hike.

We saw many storks, they are a highlight for me.

Tonight we are staying in a hikers hostel, with many hikers and bikers. I’m not certain they are thru hiking the RV as there seems to be many groups, maybe tours...

A highlight of my trip last year for the girls and me were baked apples as one location.

We arrived and there were none, and the sweet owner said she’d make me some!!!
