RV 2019: 3 Days in Lisbon

Super excited to get three days in Lisbon before starting our RV hike. The RV is the Rota Vicentina, a hike I did last year with my daughters. It’s amazingly beautiful and I knew I wanted to experience it with Steve!

What a small world!
While out and about our last evening we run into an old friend Emerick!!!

We enjoyed a lovely pitchers of Sangria at Chapito.

This is thought to be the first ever traffic instructions... giving way to the people unloading from the ships.

The kids and I have been studying about World Explorers and Sir Walter Raleigh, making this area even more interesting to me than last year.

This reminded me of a friend...

A public urinal...

A lovely evening spent, with a friend in Lisbon, what a small World...

RV 2019: Off to Lisbon

A girl can get use to this!

Steve keeps picking up my backpack. Great flight across the Atlantic! A special thanks to Jen with Mission Adventures for getting us such an awesome flight!

We departed from New York at 11pm. They were looking for five people to give up their seats for a departure the next evening. The offer got up to $1200 each seat, we stood up at that point and said if they throw in a free hotel room for the night that we would do it. Right then they reached their quota. So we gave up $2400 to enjoy one more day in Lisbon. No regrets!!!!

This sign is a joke between Jordi and us. There was a sign in Spain showing a male pilgrim with a huge backpack and a female with just a scarf around her head. We joked with Jordi that that was the way it was supposed to be!!! Over time he adjusts the image to reflect different situations. When I shared the image of Steve carrying my pack Jordi created this....

At sometime we joked about “a pain in the ass pilgrim”, this the motto...

In Lisbon and at our favorite hostel! and one of my favorite spots for a Sangria there!!!!

We got a room that opens onto the terrace, this is our view!!!!

Dog on the blog!!!!!

A Romantic Camino...the Rota Vicentina calls me back

Steve and I are at the airport heading back to Portugal to do the RV!
I was on this route this time last year with my two daughters, and dreamed daily of returning.
We’ve reached out to our contacts, have secured our accommodations for all but one night. That night I want to sleep in our hammocks on the water!
We will be returning to my favorite restaurant in the World!!! I’m not
exaggerating it really is my favorite in the World!!! Samuel is reserving my favorite table and we can’t wait to return!
I’m looking forward to sharing it with my hubby!
Next update will be with a Sangria in hand!
Cheers!

The picture above came across in my photos today as a photo taken a year ago today,
lovely coincidence! It’s a picture of my Camino she’ll that I wear on my
backpack. The little fish ( sardine) was bought in Lisbon. I
saw it and instantly knew I wanted to add it to our shells.
I’ve fallen in love with all images of fish since my trip to Portugal.
