BAYEUX TAPESTRY

When I woke this morning this is what I saw, as I laid in my hammock...

We spent a lot of time learning about the Bayeaux tapestry before we took the children to Europe in 2007. We read " Striped Ships", watched several wonderful videos. The two I enjoyed the most were,  an animated Bayeaux Tapestry and one done by BBC with an historian explaining the tapestry, both found on YouTube. Who can forget, " ...when Harold got shot in the eye"? In 2007 the tapestry was closed when we came through so this was a visit that we were eager for. We also read several books on William the Conquerer and had a good grasp on the Battle of Hastings. This leaves the younger ones out of the loop as they were too young to remember, it has been nice seeing the older kids sharing what they remember. There is so much rich History in these miles we are covering.

At night, similiar to the Rouen cathedral's light show, Bayeaux lights up their cathedral and this tree that is over two hundred years old. The theme was " liberty" and even had a segment of Martin Luther King's " I Have a Dream" speech.
