This needed its own post. This town has been so precious and comforting. It’s not a tourist trap and what I needed. We woke to a birthday cake made for Aynsleigh and a tour given by a member of the family.
He took us to the underground dwelling that seemed to be like ant tunnels made of mud and cool in the hot sand. We saw up close pottery being made and the procedure with magnesium of turning pottery green. We watched the workers up close, many handicapped and paid them well for letting us have photo opportunities.
There is a small Koran library that was a treat to see, scholars from around the world, we were told, seek this place. It housed over 4000 original manuscripts in locked glass bookshelves.
The local kids played soccer with our family... how amazing how when we travel language barriers never keep children from playing together. The weirdest thing happened. Tristan has always been slightly obsessed with a card game called Yugioh, a boy on a moped drove by with a Yugioh backpack. Adam asked him where he got it and it was from that busy town thirty minutes away that we passed. The boy had no idea what Yugioh was!!!!! He said he bought the pack due to its size!!!! Adam secured a deal that if we couldn’t find it in the town this guy would sell us his. He had no love loss over that. We wanted to attempt to get one as we would buy a few for Tristan's friends if we could find them. We had no luck. Tristan didn’t really know about us attempting to buy behind the scenes, so I had just about stepped out of the walls of our oasis to do the deal when the guy on his moped came into the walls, Tristan started yelling to me saying ,” that’s the guy!”, and my secret was foiled...
but he was grinning ear to ear, and Bronwyn and Karsh who can fix anything fixed the broken zipper and got it good as new.
