Our beautiful host in Tamegroute, with Adam's help, secured all the desert stay details. We booked a private camel caravan of 8 camels out to the desert. We arrived at our spot, Caravane Rose du Sable, about an hour after saying goodbye and were greeted by a lovely gal and her team.
We were offered tea as they set up our camels. I got the oldest camel, but from the sounds of it he was the most dominant and is their leader. Rashid (our younger guide) lead the way and guided four camels and another elderly gentleman guided the other four. Loftin rode with Steve and screamed, as predicted bloody murder, when it came time to mount the camels. Thankfully that scream changed to excitement, but I’d do anything to have had that on video!
Rashid is 22, not certain he has ever been far from this desert but if Ralph Lauren or some other modeling company got their hands on him I am convinced we could see him in magazines. His soul was so gentle and he knew these camels!
My camel was named BACHBAHHA...BACH BAH HAH...
Our journey would take about 2 and a half hours. We had bought blue Tuareg scarfs (needed for sun protection) and traditionally wrapped ourselves up (with help of Rashid) and honestly never complained about the heat.
We arrived to tents, food being prepared, tea being served, my kids rolling down the dunes, and music being sung and played around the fire. Adam joined right in and sang beautifully beating the drum with the workers. This meal was our favorite meal in Morocco!!!
We slept great under stars and peaking outside you could see our line of camels laying down and resting.
