Day 7 - Odeceixe - this is why we are here!

I could stay quiet and just post pictures, really nothing needs to be said. Today’s route seals the deal on why we chose this route.

We slept well last night, it was cold though...The girls did a great job getting our hammocks up and making dinner right as the sun was going down. It occurred to us today that daylight savings has taken affect and we have an extra hour of sunlight each evening- YAY!!!!

To our knowledge no one saw us but a biker. Though I have little reason to think anyone would have said anything if they had. We feel so welcomed everywhere we go. We loved sleeping last night under the stars!

After we woke up in the morning, inches from the trail, we each placed our hands on the trees and gave thanks to them for supplying a place to put our hammocks up. As we did, Bronwyn's ring fell off, we looked for it and couldn’t find it... I’m determined to find her a new one but she was pretty bummed.

Arrival at the beach and across the way, we plan on sleeping tonight.

Feed me!

We found the circuit and walked it with amazing views and then ended up at the beach where tourist were gathering. We got the best seat in the house at a small restaurant that was almost like a trailer. The food was yummy and we relaxed for a good two hours. We hadn’t made it to town yet, for it was still about an hour of road walk.

We pulled out our guide book and luckily, the map shows shades of green, where trees are.  With sight unseen, we decided to sleep on the other side of the beach, over on a cliff, a place we could see from where we were eating off in the distance. This would follow an hour walk into town and about an hour plus walk out of town... both routes hugging opposite sides of the beach.

The town was rather sleepy.  I’m certain in the summer it is the place to be. We found a little restaurant and sat outside.  I also charged my phone knowing we would be attempting to sleep out yet again tonight. We sat another two hours and our street side cafe went from no patrons to several.

Hikers, from our opposite direction started pulling in and we had a lot of conversation with two ladies from Boston who travel the World hiking.

We headed off, over the bridge and on the road up the hill overlooking the beach we arrived at hours earlier. There, where we had imagined staying was a small shelter already built.
Feet from the cliffs, overlooking  the beach,  the sound of waves crashing below- stealth camping doesn’t get better than this!!!!

An excellent day on the Roto Vicentina!!!!
