Pontevedra to Combarro and WE SAY BYE TO BOO

A lot thrown at us today!

This was one of the heaviest day of any Camino, but also taught us that we are a tight family with valuable true friendships....

I was awaken at 6:30am this morning by some stranger at my bedside waking me up!!!! I at first thought it was Bronwyn, but my eyes focused and realized it wasn’t. Why on Earth was this woman shaking me lightly wanting   my attention? I hear, ”you have my shirt?” softly whispered. I asked what color it was (why I don’t know as I was more than willing to pass it on). She said “green”, and I replied  that it wasn’t but was still moving towards my bag to grab it. She then said the brand of it, a brand I’d never heard of but was happy it really was hers!

Not great sleeping last night, a few drinks, lots of snorers... and to our delight a baby who when wanting to be nurses said,”mama, num nuns”....

Today the Camino has an option, a Spiritual Variant or the “regular one”. What are the chances that the day we say bye to Boo we are to walk the Peaceful Spiritual variant. Jordi secured us an apartment only a few hours away so we could get there and say our goodbyes. The town was very pretty, yet touristy... about 50  “pilgrims on tour” came through all wearing blue t-shirt’s saying “Santiago, Camino“ and sporting any or all icons associated with it. Their scarves, shoelaces, even walking piles all seemed to say “Santiago”...

They were very happy and while people will always compare what really is a “true” pilgrim it was a nice reminder that we all get to do what we want on our own Caminos!

We got settled into our wonderful apartment as the boys were leaving with Boo. We always have our pets 'transition' in the comfort of our home but our doctors know Boo so well and he was going to stay in our minivan and not have to be taken in so we agreed this was best. Boo was 157 pounds when we got him! A big beautiful Gentle Giant! Steve and the boys would take him home and place his body in our living room for all the critters to get some closure (if indeed they needed it), and would then take him to our source that cremates our critters.

My vet reassured me over Skype that it was time and said,”Neve it’s really bad”... none of us had any doubt.
Steve sent pictures in the morning of Boo being spoiled and even bossing a golfer in our backyard...

This just sucked, no other way of saying it. The girls and I cried hysterically through it all. The boys were crying and having to take the hardest role.

Our dear friend Jordi was in the kitchen making us lunch!!!! He gave us space, hugged us and set a table filled with food.

We all took a walk in the evening as the sun was about to go down, walked without shoes in the water and were thankful that the Camino provided this peaceful spot for us to deal with this situation.
