Once on the tram, it felt like we could have been in DC or NYC, almost everyone spoke English, though clearly for most it was not their first language. Lisbon instantly appeared trendy to me, like the place to be. We wandered the streets, filled with graffiti, using google maps to get us there. This was only my second experience with google maps, and am now in awe how it works.
We are not ones to sit around at the hostel.... So after an exhausting day negotiating with airlines on a phone, flying, riding the easy access metro, and walking the hills of Lisbon, we ventured out to the grocery store and to a lovely dinner at a pub with fresh food called Josephine’s. As I paid my bill I noticed Sangria and made the comment I’d have to get some next time. My lovely waitress said,” you can walk around Lisbon with one!!!!!”.... so a to go order for a Sangria was ordered...( and reordered in my next few days there)... Josephine’s became “ our” place, they recognized us and treated us well when we entered.
** Update**
So behind on our blog, so mainly just sharing pictures taken of us in our three nights , two days of Lisbon. The graffiti is worthy of its own post in Bronwyn’s eyes!
Day one we went through the markets, hit Josephine’s for drinks, busted every cork store there was, made a nice pasta and tuna dish for dinner and slept. On day one we met an artist at the market who made beautiful handmade bookmarks with owls. We bought three custom done in colors of our choosing. We felt so fortunate to get them!
Day two I followed one of my pilgrim friends “walking tour”, it was worth its weight in Gold. She use to live in Lisbon, thank you Laurie!!!!!

You are so beautiful ...
