Limited WIFI so sharing pictures quickly!
We woke to some pilgrims passing by and opening the chapel doors to peek in!
All was good as we packed up and headed out. Last night I was so impressed with the size book Swiss mama had pulled out till I realized this morning the donkeys are carrying it. Lucky us getting to see them in action!!!
The kids singing their hearts out as they walked!!!!
The mom asked Aynsleigh if she wanted to put her bags with the donkey and Aynsleigh declined:)
We had a great suprise today in that we arrived in the town of Montcuq with a street market happening, I love European street markets!!! There were vendors of saussisont, cheeses, onions, spices, clothes, breads.... I bought a lot of yummy treats and then made my way through the crowds for my first morning coffee, so much energy in the streets !
Loved this artist little goat!
We ran into Mark, first time seeing him in about a week plus! A quick stop to the grocery to get a box of icecream ( 1/6th the price then buying them individually) and we were off....
...and then decided maybe we should eat lunch prior to leaving...
Always a fun time!!!
A cute couple came by us and joked," we are not certain you all are going to make it to Santiago, didn't we see you two hours ago at the market?".
We do take luxurious breaks and enjoy the towns:) They were really cute and their dog will be featured at the end of the post. We had no idea where our heads would crash tonight. This was a really long day, spirits high, but when we got to town we were ready to eat and crash! Today is Steve's and my anniversary and he urged us to splurge at a nice restaurant to celebrate and we were ready to do so.
Ughhh the rocks...ouch...
Figs!!!!!!!
We stop at every open chapel
Gorgeous frescos, we thank each for being open...
The Le Puy route, a nice bit of info...
As we walked we noticed a small arrow pointing to this rock, the boys put it there they wanted us to notice what looked like a paw print ( they were ahead of us)...
As we approached town Kendall, a super awesome American gal we met several days ago looked out the window of a gite. We caught up from the window and she had a super cool friend from home who had just joined her named Cindy. We thought we might just come back and check into the gite not really certain what was in store for us this evening.
As we walked through the town a man sitting outside a restaurant called us over, he saw us in the market today and insisted on buying us drinks. Kuds got hot cocoa!
Cute town...
We walked further, saw an opportunity to hang hammocks but saw an even more inviting stairwell type area that had a glass window with a light switch, when you flipped the switch it revealed an old cloister of sort. Not certain if it was being excavated or preserved but it sure was cool! I felt slot of comfort there and knew it would be a safe place for pilgrims camping out. I suspect it was built for this purpose as most towns do have a welcoming spot such as this for pilgrims to stay at. Keep in mind pilgrims have walked through these towns for over 1,000 years! Towns had hospitals totally there to take in pilgrims, bridges ordered by kings and queens mainly for pilgrims. This history is long and deep.
Through thus door....
Thus huge underground was blocked off with a classy glass window frame, you had to turn on the light to see its beauty...
Tons of space for us to crash...
The information that I hope to get translated about it...
Dog on the blog, Nemo!
