Tomar to Alvaiázere

Loved our time in Tomar... A really welcoming town! I really needed this! The Rota Vicentina was just so amazing, but this route has been plagued with my foot and ankle issues (and rain) making it more difficult. I’m not certain what has caused my injury, or if indeed it is an injury. I think it started on my last day of the Rota Vicentina, I know I felt it in Sintra when heading to town on our tour.

Tomar is exactly what I needed!!! I bought two different ankle supports and maybe it is a coincidence with the new shoes, rest, and ibuprofen for I am feeling better! In fact, today I would say I’m as close to 100 percent as possible.

The sun! The sun too is a wonderful thing to see!!!!

We have a nice Camino family, a small group of pilgrims that watch over each other. This is really nice, if one is missing at night someone can share an update as to where they are.

Today’s walk was really nice! Several times we have been stopped by little old ladies pointing to their mouths (as a sign) offering us food in the morning. Today a man drove up behind us just to get his picture with us and then turn around! Did I share how wonderful this town is?

As we were walking over the bridge (in a busy area) I stood in the street determined to take a picture there from the middle of the street showing where we stayed and the castle. The girls were nervous as what I was doing really wasn’t fair to traffic. I turned around and TWO police officers on motorcycles were in the “traffic” I was holding up - yikes!!!!! I looked sheepishly at them and apologized and they were so nice!!!! They motioned the girls over to them for pictures!

The morning was a wonderful walk!

We arrived to our little town to a very nice family run albergue. The owner has a nice wax stamp and served me a glass of port on arrival. He had a simple but marvelous dinner of lentils, meat and rice. So welcoming!!!
And most of our crew were here, which is always nice too!
