TREPORT and SAINT VALERIE sur SOMME

We had a wonderful day going along the coast of France. We headed East today and stopped in several little towns.

A highlight was TREPORT where the beach is lined with white cabanas. These fascinated me, I have seen them before but this particular beach was loaded with them, and today they were opened and being used vs closed up. I inquired about them and think I understood them to be rented either yearly to towns folk or that they actually purchase them. They clearly were described as private. The outside has to be kept a standard white but the inside could show the personality and style of its owner. They were shacks that held their beach ware and did not provide a place to sleep. Here are a few images that I hope show their quaintness better.

One of these cabana owners was setting his up, it was very humble compared to some others , he was so kind to take my questions and answer them. He also highly suggested that we go to a place I had never heard of, Saint Valerie sur Somme, he said it was spectacular and told me we could be there in thirty minutes.... Off we went....

A wonderful suggestion and a perfect spot to spend the evening and find a spot to sleep. Merchants were out, and one was selling items from mammoth tusks, of course this could be questionable and provided a great way to explain church relics and how they were bought with a certain understanding of what they were, however their authenticity is questioned by even the most faithful of believers. This man spent a lot of time with us and gave the girls a gift when he heard we were going to do The Camino in ten days. Aynsleigh got a bracelet with a tiny bit of tusk and Bronwyn a ring. Wonderful day and night!
