A Rest Day in Coimbra

Victor hooked us up!!!!

We are staying in a room with one big bed but a view overlooking the church. We feel so fortunate. We’ve walked over Coimbra and enjoyed many things it had to offer. Today, we had coffee in trendy places and played tourist vs pilgrims!

We met a nice English lady whose hubby is in town for something at the University. Her two year old was cute carrying her baby doll and chasing pigeons. She reminded me of Bronwyn at that age. Wish we had tons of time to converse, really enjoyed our conversation. We then found the cutest spot for lunch!!! Where a light on the alcohol pitcher of Sangria was made just for me!!! This was off the beaten trail and we loved it! We passed by a small place offering FADO at night, you had to book your spot ahead. I think it was Fado de Coimbra...  such a hard call for a pilgrim who falls asleep early to prepare for the next days walk. Though we weren’t hiking today our “rest day” still showed many miles walked today on my watch. I started to second guess my decision when Aynsleigh appeared too tired to go.

Thankfully we went! A highlight of our trip and the girls were so engaged. Here in this small intimate crowd of maybe 7 small tables in walks Melissa and Jolene, two of our pilgrim friends! Great tapas, great company, and wonderful FADO!

We enjoyed Coimbra!
